Salaried GP Opportunity - 4 Sessions per Week
Posted 1 hour 55 minutes ago by NHS National Services Scotland
Roslin Medical Practice Wednesday & Friday Expected Start: April 2027
About Our Practice
Roslin Medical Practice is situated in a beautiful semi-rural setting just south of Edinburgh, conveniently located near the City Bypass and approximately 10 miles from the city centre.
We care for a growing patient population, currently at 8,600 patients from our spacious, purpose-built premises.
We pride ourselves on being a genuinely friendly, welcoming and supportive practice, where teamwork and looking after one another are just as important as providing high-quality patient care.
Our clinical team consists of two GP Partners, five Salaried GPs, two Practice Nurses and CTAC nursing staff. We also benefit from an excellent multidisciplinary team, including an on-site Pharmacist and Physiotherapist, who work closely with our clinicians to provide joined up patient care.
A positive working environment is something we really value. We have a strong team ethos and make a conscious effort to maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere. One of our longstanding traditions is our daily team tea and coffee break, when everyone comes together for a chat and a catch up. It's a small but important part of practice life and something we feel makes Roslin a particularly enjoyable place to work.
Our experienced and approachable administration team provide excellent day to day support, helping our clinicians focus on delivering patient care.
We use Vision and Docman clinical systems and are also involved in teaching fourth year medical students from the University of Edinburgh.
About the Role
The position offers four sessions per week, working on Wednesdays and Fridays, with a varied mix of routine and urgent primary care.
Our clinical sessions include a combination of face to face and telephone consultations, with predominantly 15 minute appointments, alongside shorter telephone triage slots.
The current job plan describes 12 appointments per morning and 12 per afternoon, including a mixture of on the day and pre bookable appointments, as well as GP only slots for arranging your own patient follow up.
We recognise the importance of safe, sustainable clinical workloads and use BMA safe working guidance to inform our consulting arrangements, appointment scheduling and workload management. Our aim is to support high quality patient care while promoting the wellbeing of our GPs.
We recognise the importance of having sufficient time to manage clinical workload. Administration time is incorporated into the working day, along with regular additional dedicated administrative sessions to support the management of results, referrals and correspondence.
The role includes participation in our duty doctor rota, dealing with urgent clinical queries and undertaking home visits where appropriate.
