Salaried GP (Minimum 6 sessions)

Newnham Walk Surgery are looking for a dedicated salaried GP, working a minimum of 6 sessions per week, to join our friendly, enthusiastic team.

Our practice has a great reputation in the local area for providing high quality care. Located close to the centre of Cambridge, our main surgery is in Wordsworth Grove, Cambridge with a branch surgery in Boots, Petty Cury, Cambridge City Centre.

We are currently participating in ward rounds at Brookfields Rehabilitation Hospital 7 days a week. The post-holder will be required to be part of the rota for those sessions, with weekend sessions paid in addition to the normal salaried role.

Main duties of the job

You will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Available for face-to-face and telephone consultations, home visits, repeat prescriptions, queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
• Make professional, autonomous decisions related to presenting problems.
• Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• In consultation with patients and in line with current disease management protocols, develop care plans for health.
• Provide counselling and health education.
• Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
• Record clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
• Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary.
• Fulfil normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
• Regularly provide ward rounds at Brookfields Rehabilitation Hospital.

Qualifications

• UK recognised medical qualification, GMC registration and indemnity, Performers List.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development including regular appraisals.
• Applicants must have current UK professional registration.

Experience

• Familiar with SystmOne.
• Experience of working in a GP practice.
