Job Description

We are a friendly, supportive and forward thinking GP practice looking to recruit a salaried GP for 4 sessions per week to join our committed clinical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a GP seeking a good work life balance within a welcoming and well organised practice environment. Our practice serves approximately 4,800 patients and uses EMIS Web. We are committed to providing high quality patient care while maintaining realistic workloads and protected time for clinical administration. We value open communication, flexibility and staff wellbeing.

The successful candidate will undertake routine GP duties including face to face and telephone consultations, clinical administration, repeat prescriptions and participation in practice meetings. There is flexibility around working days and we would be happy to discuss this with the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high quality primary care services to our practice population through a mixture of face to face and telephone consultations. Duties will include assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions.

The role will also include routine clinical administration, reviewing results and correspondence, processing repeat prescriptions and maintaining accurate clinical records using EMIS Web. The postholder will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and patient centred care.

There may be opportunities to develop particular clinical interests and contribute to service development within the practice. We encourage a supportive team approach and value continuity of care for our patients.

Job responsibilities

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. The post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Secondary responsibilities
  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near miss events applying a structured approach (root cause analysis)

Experience
  • Full GMC Registration
  • National Performers List registration
  • Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
  • General understanding of the GMS contract
Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • General Practitioner Certificate of Completion of Training
  • Experience of medicines management
  • Experience of ICB initiatives
