CornerwaysMedical Centre has an exciting opportunity for a qualified General Practitionerto join our established Practice. We are looking to recruit a 4 to 6 session Salaried GP to work as an autonomous Practitioner alongside our 9 GP Partners to deliver better patient care, gain experience and develop professionally. The successful candidate will provide medical services to our Practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.
Main duties of the jobTo provide comprehensive primary care, including patient consultations, diagnosing and treating common illnesses, prescribing medications, offering health advice, and referring patients to specialists when necessary.
About usLocated in purpose built two storey premises on the outskirts of Ringwood (adjacent to the New Forest National Park) with a Branch Surgery situated in a converted bungalow at St Leonards, just over the county border in Dorset. Cornerways is a training Practice with a patient list of 11,996 and forms part of the Avon Valley Primary Care Network also comprising Ringwood Medical Practice, Fordingbridge Practice and Twin Oaks Surgery (serving a collective population of 40,000 patients).
Job responsibilitiesMain duties of the job:
- Provide face to face and telephone consultations for routine and urgent care.
- Conduct any patient home visits not dealt with by Home Visiting Service / Frailty team
- Manage patient care within the Practice, including investigating and reviewing results, developing care plans and making the necessary referrals.
- Issue and sign repeat prescriptions, adhering to national and local guidelines.
- Administer and manage patient queries, test results, referral letters and any other duties as required in a timely manner.
- Make clear consultation notes and records using SystmOne
- Ensure safe, evidence based and cost-effective care in line with Practice disease management protocols and NICE guidelines.
- Independently prescribe medications within your scope of practice.
- Review and manage patient medications following the appropriate policies and local clinical guidelines.
- Work with our clinical and support teams in delivering holistic and patient centred care.
- Actively participate in MDT and care conference meetings as required.
Health Promotion and Patient Support:
- Regularly screen for lifestyle factors and support patients in adopting health promotion strategies and self-care principles.
- Contribute to the delivery of anticipatory care plans.
Professional Development:
- Maintain awareness of clinical practice developments.
- Engage in continuous professional development, including funded training opportunities relevant to your clinical interest
- Participate in performance reviews and take responsibility for your personal development.
- Engage in mandatory training and attend courses as required.
- Provide clinical support and guidance to both clinical and administrative staff to maintain the highest care standards.
- Collaborate with health and social care providers to deliver an integrated, safe service.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Adhere to all Practice policies and procedures, including those related to prescribing, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Apply infection control measures and manage risks in compliance with local and national guidelines.
- Contribute to clinical governance through audits, peer reviews, and significant event analysis.
Patient Safety and Confidentiality:
- Ensure patient and carer confidentiality, in line with Practice policies.
- Manage patient data securely, only disclosing it to authorised persons.

- Qualified GP
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice
- Occupational Health clearance
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook

- Good interpersonal skills
- Problem solving & analytical skills
- Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
- Clinical systems knowledge, experience with SystmOne preferred but not essential
- Understanding of the audit process
- Understanding of clinical risk management
- UK Drivers Licence
