Job Description
Overview

NTGP has a fantastic opportunity for a salaried GP to join our multi disciplinary team. The position will require GP sessions from both locations (on different days). We are flexible with sessions available and looking for a GP to cover 5-6 sessions per week. The days can be negotiable to suit you, the team & patients.

You will be consulting with patients using face to face, telephone & e consultation methods. Our practice provides a total triage service for all our patients, this will include duty doctor days and home visits on a rota basis.

You will be responsible for the provision of medical services to our patient population managing a caseload dealing with a wider range of health needs. You will be supported by the wide range of clinical and non clinical team within the practice.

We may close the advert if we have a higher number of applicants before the deadline date.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct face to face, telephone, and online consultations with patients of all ages.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Provide counselling and health education as appropriate.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Prescribe, in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary, all local and national guidelines, appropriately for the presenting condition.
  • Provide support for other clinicians such as nurses, nurse practitioners and health care assistants including the signing of prescriptions where appropriate.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Prescribe medications and review ongoing treatments.
  • Manage patients with complex or long term conditions (e.g. diabetes, COPD).
  • Make referrals to secondary care and other services when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date clinical records.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures for vulnerable patients.
  • Ensure high standards of care in line with NHS guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals.
  • Participate in practice meetings and multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions.
  • Review test results, prescriptions, and hospital letters.
  • Manage correspondence and follow up tasks.
  • Support the primary health care team in all quality initiatives, including the Quality and Outcomes Framework, the Care Quality Commission registration and others as may arise from time to time.

  • GMC registration
  • NHS National Performers List registration
  • Medical defence organisation registration
  • EMIS Web & DOCMAN experience
Experience
  • Experience of practising as a GP in the UK.
  • Excellent clinical communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to the delivery of high quality clinical care within a framework of Clinical Governance.
  • Awareness of local Safeguarding policies and relevant legislative guidance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of NHS primary care and community services.
  • Integrated approach to team working and a willingness to fully participate in Practice Meetings.
  • Good presentation skills and the ability to share good practice.
  • Proof of vaccination and immunity status in accordance with the Department of Health guidelines.
  • Driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Enhanced DRB clearance.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation
  • To be aware of, and comply with, all relevant practice policies/guidelines (e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and GDPR).
  • Ensuring up to date yearly appraisals.
  • To attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  • To work collaboratively with other members of the Primary Health Care Team, including participating in multi disciplinary meetings, significant event analyses and other activities in the interest of individual and team development and improved care of patients.
  • To maintain an interest in the practice programme for training and education, and contribute effectively to the educational development of learners who may (at different times) be attached to the practice.
