Salaried General Practitioner

A key member of the team working in General Practice, the GP will manage a caseload, dealing with a wide range of presenting health care needs in a primary care setting. The post-holder will work with clinical colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care are provided for all registered and temporary patients. The post-holder will also contribute to planning and decision-making as part of the wider practice team.
Main duties of the jobIn general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including:
- Making professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred internally within the Practice.
- Assessing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems to determine their healthcare needs.
- Consulting with patients in the surgery, at home visits, and via telephone or online mechanisms as agreed within the practice.
- Undertaking triage calls and visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence promptly.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Developing care plans in collaboration with patients, following current practice protocols.
- Providing counselling and health education as needed.
- Managing patient caseloads by admitting or discharging patients and referring them to other care providers appropriately.
- Complying with clinical governance and practice policies and protocols.
- Establishing systems to manage common chronic conditions.
- Completing administrative duties related to clinical and non-clinical aspects of service delivery.

Person Specification Qualifications- Newly qualified (within 2 years) GP with GMC registration
- Evidence of annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
- Trained through the General Practice Vocational Training Scheme
- Eligible to be on a medical performers list
- Enhanced CRB check
- UK driving licence
- Current CPR certificate
- UK work permit (if required)
- Successfully completed General Practice Specialist Training
- Experience in hospital posts
- Knowledge of clinical and information governance
