RQ - Service Manager Mental Capacity Act and DoLS

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement with 1 day in the office and a daily rate of £476.68. The role is responsible for providing high-quality professional leadership at the British Association of Social Workers 'Advanced Social Worker' level, focusing on the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Key responsibilities include oversight and management of the DoLS system across Somerset, coordinating between Adult Social Care and the Somerset Council legal team regarding the Court of Protection and Community DoLS, and ensuring quality assurance in training and practice within the Adult Social Care workforce.
Main Responsibilities- Provide clear leadership to deliver the Council's strategic priorities and meet financial targets as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Advise Elected Members on operational and policy issues related to the service.
- Promote an inclusive, diverse, and high-engagement workplace culture.
- Represent the Council to promote its interests externally and internally.
- Develop and monitor performance frameworks and quality standards for service delivery.
- Act as an ambassador for the Council's vision, strategic aims, and values.
- Ensure equality of access and treatment across diverse communities.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement, creativity, and innovation.
- Prioritize customer responsiveness and engagement with service users and communities.
- Support strategic and transformational change programs to improve efficiency and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and professional standards, including health and safety.
- Manage the DoLS team, which includes 7 Best Interest Assessors and support staff.
- Oversee the commissioning of assessors, supervision, performance, and practice within the team.
- Coordinate multi-agency work related to the DoLS system across Somerset.
- Lead and provide professional guidance on the Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS, and Community DoLS.
- Undertake representational duties on behalf of the Council.
- Coordinate DoLS applications, training, and interface with legal teams.
