Root Cause Business Insights Lead

The purpose of the role is to drive performance and directly impact pollution reduction, which is a top priority for Thames Water.
Our environmental performance is monitored by regulators using measures such as compliance with permits and the severity of pollution incidents, informing our Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA).
Your data insight will enable the environmental delivery team to improve workstreams, define, measure, and report benefits. Accurate reporting will support critical business decisions.
Work details:
- 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- This is a hybrid role; travel to Thames Water sites is required, with a car allowance provided.
- Analyze root causes of pollution incidents, identifying patterns and underlying issues using operational data.
- Extract insights to recommend operational improvements and pollution reduction strategies.
- Enhance team efficiency through automation of reporting, maintaining KPIs, and investigating deviations.
- Conduct failure analysis and evaluate the effectiveness of solutions through benefit realization reporting.
- Collaborate internally and with industry to realize pollution reduction.
- Liaise with regulators, providing accurate and timely information.
- Support Thames Water's data-led approach to reducing pollution incidents.
- Passion for improving environmental performance.
- Experience in a similar role or industry.
- Proven ability in root cause analysis (RCA).
- Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills, including report writing.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation/regulations (e.g., CICS, 16_02).
- Understanding of waste network and treatment operations.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Project management experience or a track record of delivering projects.
- Strong skills in Power BI, data visualization, and database management (SQL, Access).
- Full UK driving license.
- Degree or higher in environmental or science discipline (desirable).
- Salary between £55,000 and £65,000, depending on experience.
- 26 days holiday, increasing to 30 with service, plus bank holidays.
