About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for two Roofers (Trade Operative Level 2) to join the Norwich City Services Limited (NCSL) team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027. If you are a skilled roofer with a commitment to high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service, we would love to hear from you. This role is open to internal applicants only.

This position involves delivering a wide range of roofing repairs and maintenance services across Norwich City Council's domestic and commercial properties and assets on behalf of NCSL. The role requires an experienced roofing operative who can work independently and efficiently to provide work to a commercial and professional standard, while ensuring excellent customer service and achieving performance targets.

Responsibilities include undertaking roofing repairs and associated preparation works, interpreting plans, drawings and specifications, requisitioning materials, liaising with supervisors and schedulers, and updating work records using mobile technology. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, maintain high service standards, and contribute to the effective delivery of maintenance services across the housing and property portfolio.

The postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and stakeholders, support continuous service improvement initiatives, maintain confidentiality when handling customer information, and where appropriate assist with the supervision and development of apprentices and trainees.

The ideal candidate will hold a City & Guilds Roofing qualification, recognised apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification, together with substantial roofing experience and a strong knowledge of industry standards. Applicants should possess excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

A commitment to customer service, safe working practices and effective communication is essential. A full UK driving licence is required, and candidates must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. Desirable qualifications include Asbestos Awareness and CAT B Removal training, ladder training, experience using PDA or mobile workforce technology, and knowledge of domestic property repairs, particularly within a social housing environment.

This role is for 37 hours per week, but to ensure flexibility and promote an inclusive workplace part time hours or a job share agreement will be considered.
