We're currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching over 100,000 children every week - and we're growing fast. Join us as a band leader and your passion will inspire the next generation.
Our band leaders come from diverse backgrounds; you might not currently be working in a music related role or have any teaching experience. If you can bring the right combination of musical ability, passion for our purpose and enthusiasm for learning, we can offer the training you need to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities- Teach groups of primary age children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
- Give children their first opportunity to learn an instrument - teaching drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
- Work independently as part of a remote team of band leaders, with support from central teams.
- Be a rock and pop star role model, empowering children in primary schools to deliver live performances at their end of term concerts.
- Help children develop self belief, resilience and wellbeing through performing in a band.
- Represent Rocksteady, building strong relationships with schools, teachers and parents.
- Be prepared for highly active days and spend time on the road driving between schools; load and unload band equipment and set up/pack away in each location.
- Competent on at least two of the following instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
- Enthusiastic to learn how to teach band lessons and complete our extensive training programme before starting the timetable.
- Resilient to work in a role that provides some of your greatest moments and biggest challenges often all in the same day.
- Confident, proud of your uniqueness and able to communicate equally well with children, teachers and parents.
- Integrity - always promote the safety and well being of children and young people.
- Organised, independent worker with good time management and administration skills.
- UK/EU driving licence and own transport to move equipment and travel between schools.
- Full time, salaried position for a contracted period.
- Work Monday - Friday, daytime only.

- Fuel contribution - 45p per business mile.
- Annual staff bonus £1,500 per annum.
- Long service award - additional 4 weeks' pay after 5 years.
- Full training in progressive teaching methodologies.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including discounts on everyday purchases and free 24/7 GP service.
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.

- Opportunities to work with the Rocksteady Foundation, reaching children and young people in charities and support groups across the UK.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect all staff to share this commitment. This role involves regular work with children and young people, and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You must disclose all unprotected and spent cautions and convictions and complete an enhanced DBS check with a children's barred list check. The company is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fair treatment, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, responsibilities for dependents, age, disability or offending background.
