Robotics Developer Contractor - Open Application
Posted 10 days 13 hours ago by Story Terrace Inc.
At AUAR, we're reshaping how the physical world is made - through sustainable, scalable, and radically better automation.
Our mission is bold: make sustainable, high-quality housing universally accessible. We've created an end-to-end, tech-driven approach - from our cloud-based design-to-manufacturing software MasterBuilder to pop-up robotic Micro-Factories that manufacture timber homes. We've proven our impact with early customers and are scaling fast across the UK, EU, and US. Backed by visionary leadership and a robust financial foundation having just closed a £5.1m funding round, we're not just building homes - we're building a better future for people and the planet.
You'll be joining at a pivotal moment, with the autonomy to shape a critical function, and the opportunity to build something truly transformative from the ground up. If you're ready to lead, create, and build together - we'd love to hear from you.
About the RoleAUAR is seeking a skilled and hands-on Robotics Developer to join our automation team on a contract basis. You'll play a crucial role in developing, testing, and improving our robotic MicroFactories - both virtually and in the real world. Working with ABB's RAPID programming language and simulation environment (RobotStudio), you'll support the iterative development of our robotic cells, helping to refine functionality, improve reliability, and ensure smooth deployment on live sites.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role that spans simulation, real-world testing, bug fixing, and iterative development. You'll be working closely with engineers across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines to identify problems, prototype improvements, and help shape the future of our automation systems.
We're always looking for great people - particularly Robotics Developers on a contract, so we're accepting applications on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine ABB robot programs using RAPID and RobotStudio
- Simulate robotic operations and test sequences prior to physical deployment
- Commission and test robotic MicroFactory cells on-site and in the lab
- Debug, troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time, proposing and testing solutions
- Evaluate system performance and suggest improvements to cycle times, reliability and safety
- Collaborate with other engineers to integrate mechanical, software and control system changes
- Maintain clear documentation of changes, test results and iterations
- Support safe and structured workflows in the lab and on customer sites
- Contribute to overall quality control of the deployed system
Requirements:
- Proficiency in ABB RAPID programming language
- Experience with ABB RobotStudio or similar simulation tools
- Hands-on experience testing, debugging, and commissioning industrial robots
- Comfortable working on-site with robotic systems (London and occasionally customer locations)
- Practical understanding of safety in robotic environments
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to take initiative
- Collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in fast-paced, agile development environments
- Right to work in the UK
Accommodation, transport & £50/ days for breakfast, lunch and dinner unless based in the local vicinity
What We Offer- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Share options - so we all share in AUAR's success.
- 4 days in the office (London) or customer on-site.
- 28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and seasonal closure).
- Health & dental insurance and well-being support.
- A values-driven culture where people and purpose come first.
- The chance to shape a category-defining product - and the future of construction.
We're building a team as diverse as the communities we serve. If you see a part of this role that excites you - even if you don't meet 100% of the criteria - we encourage you to apply. Let's make housing better, together.
We are committed to creating an equitable, inclusive and diverse workplace. We intend to run an equal, fair and inclusive hiring process. If you feel there is any area we could improve, please let us know at uar.io .
