As Risk Partner - Data Privacy, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the privacy of our customers and colleagues. You will oversight operational processes and business initiatives ensure alignment with internal and legal and regulatory requirements and risk appetite. You'll act as a strategic advisor to senior management and point of contact for our Data Protection Officer, providing expert guidance on privacy-related matters and driving compliance across the organisation.
A day in the life of a Risk Partner - Data PrivacyYou start your day reviewing the latest regulatory updates and assessing their impact on our privacy framework. A quick sync with the Team Lead sets the tone for the day. You then join a cross-functional meeting to advise on a new initiative, ensuring privacy by design is embedded from the start. After lunch, you prepare a dashboard for the monthly risk committee, highlighting key metrics and recent breach trends. In the afternoon, you lead a workshop with business stakeholders to improve awareness of data handling practices. Before wrapping up, you respond to an auditor's inquiry, confident in the robustness of our controls.
Which team will you be joining?This role is within the Data, Security & Technology team (Data-ICS), part of the Non-Financial Risk department. The team consists of 11 dedicated professionals, including specialists in Data Privacy as well as Data Management, IT and Security risk. You'll work closely with colleagues across the business and auditors to ensure our privacy practices remain robust, transparent, and future-proof.
Your Accountabilities- Define and update data privacy policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal requirements and law and regulations , regarding personal data.
- Advise senior management on privacy matters.
- Coordinate privacy initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review privacy assessments of change initiatives.
- Provide ad hoc privacy advice to cross-functional teams.
- Perform second-line compliance monitoring for data privacy.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and manage privacy-related controls.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes and adapt local processes accordingly.
- Develop and maintain KPIs related to data privacy.
- Present privacy updates and breach dashboards to internal forums.
- Lead internal and external audits related to privacy.
You are a seasoned risk professional with a strong legal or compliance background and a passion for data protection. You thrive in complex environments, are proactive, and bring clarity to regulatory challenges. You're a natural communicator, able to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
Key Competencies- Minimum 8 years' experience in risk or compliance roles.
- Deep understanding of GDPR and related regulations.
- Strong knowledge of risk control models and reporting.
- Proven ability to interpret complex information and support decision-making.
- Experience developing operational policies and improving processes.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and analytical skills.
- Fluent in German or Dutch and English (written and verbal).
- Hands-on mentality, self-motivated, and well-organised.
- Master's degree in Law, Economics, or equivalent.
- Risk Management or Certified Compliance Officer qualification preferred.
- 13th-month salary, either paid monthly or once a year in December.
- 30 days PTO (or 240 hours) per year (based on full-time employment).
