Morgan Stanley's Model Risk Management (MRM) department resides within FRM. Model Risk is the risk of adverse consequences resulting from decisions based on incorrect or misused models. Model Risk Management is a Model Validation function responsible for independently reviewing models to ensure compliance with standards (internal, SR 11-7, PRA SS 1/23, etc.).

This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in and drive MRM governance, regulatory, reporting, and COO activities for EMEA, with close interactions across stakeholders within Business and Control functions, reporting to the Global Head of MRM in London.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley in achieving its business goals by partnering with business units to realize risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board, and protecting the firm from losses due to credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks.

What will you be doing?

  • Partner with stakeholders across EMEA on model risk governance and framework initiatives.
  • Manage regulatory exams/requests and supervisory meetings related to MRM in EMEA.
  • Design and oversee regulatory and internal audit remediation plans.
  • Prepare MRM materials and KRIs for EMEA entities and committees.
  • Ensure compliance with regional and global outsourcing requirements.
  • Coordinate inputs to department processes like risk assessments, business continuity, and remediation plans.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial institutions, consulting, or risk management.
  • Knowledge of core model risk regulations (FRB SR 11-7, PRA SS1/23) and governance.
  • Strong influencing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and develop cross-functional partnerships.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Experience in model development or validation.
  • Certifications like CFA, FRM, PMP (preferred).
  • Experience in COO/CAO functions related to operational risk and governance.
