We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and highly organised Risk Identification Officer to join our Domestic Abuse Service in St Helens on a 12-month fixed term contract.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a fast-paced, survivor-centred environment where you will play a key role in identifying risk, supporting safeguarding processes, and ensuring survivors are connected to the right support at the right time.

This role is hybrid working.

However, during induction and initial training, the successful candidate will be fully office-based before moving towards a hybrid working arrangement once settled into the role.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Receiving, screening and triaging domestic abuse referrals from partner agencies
  • Assessing referrals for risk, urgency and safeguarding concerns
  • Undertaking initial contact with survivors in a safe, supportive and trauma-informed way
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns relating to children and adults at risk and taking appropriate action
  • Supporting professionals with domestic abuse referral pathways and MERIT risk assessments
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records using case management systems
  • Assisting with data monitoring, reporting and administrative processes
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partner agencies
  • Managing a high-volume workload while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Promoting survivor safety, confidentiality and professional practice at all times
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience working within domestic abuse, safeguarding or another high-risk environment
  • Experience assessing risk and making proportionate decisions
  • Ability to support vulnerable individuals in crisis situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Knowledge of domestic abuse, coercive control and safeguarding procedures
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies
  • Experience using case management systems and maintaining accurate records
  • A resilient, adaptable and survivor-focused approach
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding best practice
  • Knowledge of MERIT or other domestic abuse risk assessment tools would be advantageous
Interview Process

Interviews will take place week commencing 22nd June at our St Helens office and will involve a competency-based interview and prioritisation task, which will be provided on the day.
