Hays are working in partnership with a well-established organisation to recruit a Revenues Officer to join their experienced finance team. Your new role

As a Revenues Officer, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient and customer-focused revenue collection service. You will be responsible for administering taxation accounts, supporting customers with enquiries, and ensuring the effective collection of income in line with relevant legislation and organisational policies.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Administering Council Tax and Business Rates accounts accurately and efficiently.
  • Setting up new accounts, processing changes and issuing bills and notices.
  • Providing advice and guidance to customers via telephone, email and face-to-face.
  • Investigating and resolving account queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Managing recovery processes for outstanding debts and negotiating payment arrangements.
  • Liaising with enforcement agents and external stakeholders where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring data is updated across internal systems.
  • Applying relevant legislation, policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Working closely with colleagues to deliver a high-quality service to residents and businesses.
What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience within Revenues, Local Taxation, Debt Recovery, Customer Services or a similar financial administration environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing a varied workload and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, ideally including experience of revenue systems
  • A proactive and professional approach to problem-solving and customer interactions.
