What's the role about?

Retail Micro Space Planner

Full Time, 9 months fixed term contract

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum + travel expenses

Working: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Hybrid - 2 days at customer site in London, 3 days from home

JDH Solutions, a Smollan company, is a leading retail consultancy specialising in Space Planning, Category Management, and Retail Analytics. We are seeking a Micro Space Planner to join our team supporting a major UK retailer. Working as part of a dedicated project team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining planograms that support category strategies, improve the customer shopping experience, and deliver commercial objectives. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high profile retail programme and gain experience within one of the UK's leading retail environments.

In this role you will
  • Create, maintain, and update planograms using Blue Yonder (JDA) Space Planning or equivalent space planning software
  • Produce accurate shelf layouts and merchandising recommendations in line with category strategies and retailer requirements
  • Implement range reviews, product launches, seasonal changes, and promotional activity within planograms
  • Ensure planograms are completed accurately and delivered in line with project deadlines
  • Analyse product and store data to support effective space allocation decisions
  • Review planograms for quality, consistency, and compliance with agreed merchandising standards
  • Work closely with Category Managers, Space Planning teams, and project stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Maintain accurate product, fixture, and merchandising data within space planning systems
  • Support testing, validation, and implementation of planogram changes
  • Identify opportunities to improve planogram effectiveness and operational execution
  • Contribute to project reporting and provide regular progress updates to the wider team
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience using Blue Yonder (JDA) Space Planning or an equivalent space planning platform such as Spaceman or RELEX
  • Previous experience creating and maintaining retail planograms
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
  • Experience working within grocery, convenience, health & beauty, or general merchandise retail sectors
  • Understanding of category management principles and retail merchandising processes
  • Experience working within a consultancy or project based environment
  • Familiarity with retailer specific space planning standards and governance processes
