We are delighted to support one of Irelands most successful supermarket groups in their search for an experienced Head Butcher to lead a modern, well equipped butcher counter in one of their flagship stores. Our client is looking for fresh faces for a revamped store in Roscommon. The store is situated 30 minutes' drive from Sligo and 20 minutes' drive from Leitrim, and is commutable for candidates using 449bus routes. Ideally, the suitable candidate will be managing teams and the operations of the whole department, from maintaining exceptional hygiene standards to driving sales and increasing customer footfall. Package & Benefits
Salary: €40,000 - €45,000
40 Hour Contract - No Sundays

- Cut, prepare, and portion different types of meat, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood.
- Follow food safety and hygiene rules at all times to keep the work area clean and safe.
- Help customers choose the right products and give advice on cooking methods and meal ideas.
- Package, label, and display products correctly for sale.
- Monitor stock levels and inform management when supplies need to be reordered.
- Train, guide, and support junior butchers and other team members.
- Ensure all cutting equipment and tools are cleaned and maintained properly.
- Reduce waste by using products efficiently and following company procedures.
- Keep up to date with customer preferences and market trends to help improve the product range.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and checking that products meet quality standards.
- Work closely with the store management team to ensure the department runs smoothly and meets sales targets.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience working as a butcher, preferably in a supermarket, retail, or busy food environment.
- Strong knowledge of different meat cuts and preparation techniques, with the ability to minimise waste and maximise product yield.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks at the same time.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for long periods and lifting heavy products when required.
- Reliable, organised, and able to maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
- Flexible to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays, with a fair rotating roster in place to support work life balance.
