An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician to join the well-established Wirral Integrated Respiratory Service.
The Wirral Integrated Respiratory Service is a team made up of Specialist Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Clinical Support Workers, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapist assistants and administration staff who all strive to work collaboratively to deliver the best respiratory care for patients on the Wirral. The service delivers early supported discharge and admission avoidance for Respiratory patients, chronic disease management, pulmonary rehabilitation and provides a home oxygen service for all oxygen patients on the Wirral.
The role will be 9-5 Monday to Friday. Some opportunity to cover weekend and 8-8 working hours available for the appropriate candidate but this is not essential.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will care for people both in crisis and facilitate excellent chronic disease management for respiratory and oxygen patients using their advanced clinical expertise in these areas.
The post holder with prescribe oxygen to new patients and following clinical assessment as required.
The post holder with manage complex respiratory patients, titrating oxygen in the community and also overseeing acute oxygen on patients on the virtual ward.
You will oversee and support people to return home and provide hospital at home interventions so they can recover in their own homes. You will also assess in the community for admission avoidance.
The role involves acting as team coordinator and triaging referrals. This requires excellent and adaptable communication skills and specialist knowledge of home oxygen and respiratory conditions. The post holder may also be required to deputise for the service manager and be responsible for appraising more junior staff.

Job responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have a highly specialised clinical role within the service and shared responsibility (with the Service manager and other senior staff) for service development, training and staff development and maintaining high standards of clinical practice within the team.
You will have excellent acute and chronic respiratory skills in order to support and lead junior staff in the flexible, innovative and fast growing service.
Applicants must be educated at least to degree level and have recognised qualifications and/or experience in management of chronic respiratory disease.
Evidence of leadership, multidisciplinary working and involvement in education and supervision of less experienced staff is expected.
The ability to complete home visits is essential.
You will work with the service lead to update policies, protocols and continually improve the quality of care provided by the service to meet the demands of the community.

Person Specification Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training- Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 5 years post registration experience with 2 years at a senior level
- Willingness to become an independent non medical prescriber
- First class degree education relevant to field of study
- Working towards Master's level education
- Post graduate qualification of study in speciality
- Demonstrable experience and expertise with chronic respiratory disease across disease trajectory
- Qualification in clinical examination and diagnosis
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible
- Ability to work autonomously
- Politically aware of national guidance and other local and national issues relating to speciality
- National & local audit skills
- Able to meet demands of the service
- Writing protocols, guidelines & patient information leaflets
- Conference presentations
- Ability to facilitate and implement change
- Skilled to work across professional boundaries
- Committed to multidisciplinary working & service development
- Credible with senior medical staff
- Innovative, enthusiastic, confident with a positive attitude
