Job overview This is an exciting time to join the respiratory team as we move into a state-of-the-art respiratory unit in the brand-new Louisa Martindale Building. Your clinical working environment will include the respiratory same day unit on the 9th floor with clear views of the English Channel.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise and knowledge and demonstrates sound understanding of the issues related to patients with Asthma and COPD including assessment, treatment and management of this client group. The post holder will facilitate and manage the provision of high-quality nursing care to patients with Asthma and COPD to provide optimum health and support for patients, their families and/or carers.
They will utilise skills of leadership and advanced clinical expertise to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff and provide advice, education and support from diagnosis to end of life care. They will work collaboratively with primary and secondary health care professionals, supporting individuals attending the Trust either as inpatients or outpatients and ensure smooth transitions of care into the community setting.
The successful post holder will join an expanding team as we develop a Tier 3 Severe Asthma Spoke to deliver high quality care to patients with asthma both on an inpatient and outpatient basis: assisting to identify those patients who maybe eligible for biological asthma treatments.

Person specification Experience/ Qualifications
- Current RN, registration with NMC and any other relevant post registration qualifications
- BSc Degree in relevant field
- Teaching qualification /experience with an accredited NMC mentorship course
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children including those experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, and immigration problems
- Evidence of change management with relevant management/leadership course
