Job Description

This vacancy is only available to employees of Cardiff Council including Cardiff Works and Agency Workers currently engaged with the Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Cardiff Council as the Resources Manager within the HR Operations - Schools & Corporate Education portfolio. The service provides a responsive, high quality Contact, Recruitment, and Transactional HR function to schools and education settings. We work closely with senior managers, staff and partners to deliver consistent, customer focused HR support across the full employment lifecycle, while promoting a positive culture and ensuring compliance with employment law and best practice.

About the job

Reporting to the Operational Manager, you will manage the Contact, Recruitment/Transactional teams to deliver a high quality HR support function to Schools and Education Directorates, ensuring the delivery of a high quality and seamless end to end HR service to Schools and Education directorates. Overseeing daily operations and ensuring service standards are met. Managing complex queries through the Contact Team, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Supporting senior recruitment campaigns, providing expert advice and participating in selection panels where required. Ensuring compliance with safer recruitment and statutory requirements, including Right to Work, UKVI, DBS, EWC and CIW. Contributing to wider HR projects and corporate initiatives.

You will work collaboratively with Senior Managers, Key stakeholders and HR colleagues to support organisational priorities, while building constructive relationships with recognised trade union.

What We Are Looking For From You

We're seeking an experienced HR professional who can lead a team (s), be capable of operating confidently both strategically and operationally in a large, complex organisation. You will have experience of working with senior managers and trade unions, along with sound knowledge of employment law, HR policies and procedures, and implementing best practice.

With excellent communication skills you will have the ability to build effective professional relationships quickly and navigate complex issues with clarity, sound judgement and a solutions focused approach.
