Job Description

Title: Static Maintenance Engineer - Canada Water

Purpose of Role

- As a maintenance operative, you will be responsible for undertaking both planned and reactive maintenance. The role's purpose is to carry out day-to-day maintenance supporting the Contract, Supervisor, or Management, ensuring the client's assets are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional order.

- You should be well-organized, able to work to timescales, respond to emergencies, and work effectively both as part of a team and independently.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  1. Maintain and repair the client's mechanical and electrical systems and components.
  2. Review and monitor sub-contractor performance during specialist service visits or repairs.
  3. Ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
  4. Complete simPRO/instruction sets with annotations and photographs upon maintenance completion.
  5. Keep logbook records for electrical, mechanical, and water systems, including health and safety documentation.
  6. Report issues with statutory planned maintenance to TSM and Management.
  7. Maintain comfortable environmental conditions via HVAC systems.
  8. Perform reactive repairs, fault finding, and respond to BMS alarms for diagnostics.
  9. Identify and report hazards encountered during maintenance.
  10. Operate all plant and services responsibly, including start-up, shutdown, and fault finding procedures.
  11. Conduct regular walk-rounds to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational compliance of plant rooms.
  12. Communicate effectively with clients and end-users, maintaining professional relations.
  13. Perform maintenance, repair, and small installations as directed.
  14. Maintain health & safety, building compliance, and quality assurance documentation.
  15. Develop good team relationships and keep supervisors informed.
  16. Communicate maintenance impacts and ensure safety during operations.
  17. Share knowledge and skills to promote safe and continuous operations.
  18. Report hazards and safety concerns immediately to TSM and Contract Manager.
  19. Isolate and secure pressure systems when required.
  20. Work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  21. Perform other duties as required by the Contract, Supervisor, or Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • City & Guilds Level III or equivalent in Electrical and Mechanical disciplines (essential).
  • Completed 18th Edition I.E.E (essential).
  • City & Guilds BS 2391 Level 3 Electrical Inspection & Testing (desirable).
  • IOSH Working Safely (desirable).
  • PASMA and IPAF certifications (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of Electricity at Work regulations (essential).
  • Experience with hot water systems, BMS, generators, and other plant systems (desirable).
  • Valid certificates for High Voltage systems (desirable).
  • Experience in maintenance, testing, and fault finding on various equipment.
