The School of Nursing and Midwifery is now seeking a dynamic candidate for the key position of Research Fellow to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the Max/SBF project (Maximise support for breastfeeding for sustainable population health and wellbeing: Integrated knowledge translation approach). The Research Fellow will have responsibility for managing and implementing a research project that will positively influence a cultural shift towards valuing breastfeeding as the most scientific and nutritionally sound method of infant feeding, in association with international and national research collaborators across multiple sites as part of a €2.4 million Health Research Board (HRB) funded project.

This ambitious project is led by the School of Nursing and Midwifery UCC. The project involves a 5-pronged approach to tackle the current barriers to breastfeeding. It will involve the people who will ultimately benefit from the work such as: Mums, Dads, future parents, community organisations, health systems, health professionals and health educators and learners. The Research Fellow will work closely with the Leadership and Management Committee, the Steering Committee and the International Scientific Advisory Group to contribute operational expertise in the application of effective Integrated Knowledge Translation (IKT) throughout. As a member of the Leadership and Management Committee, the Research Fellow will be expected to contribute to the development the programme for maximising breastfeeding support research in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The Research Fellow will also play a key role in the implementation of the Max/Bf reporting schedule, ensuring that the scope and timelines of the research programme and associated project are on schedule, and that UCC complies fully with mandatory reporting requirements. The Research Fellow may be asked to support other aspects of work when relevant and the appointee will be expected to have a flexible approach in this regard. The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic, very organised and capable of managing a heavy and diverse workload. She/He will be able to work under pressure and be able to effectively manage many competing demands simultaneously.

Appointment may be made on the IUA Scale for Research Fellow: €67,214 - €73,239 p.a.

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
