Research Data Manager

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Research Data Manager to join our dynamic Joint Research Office (JRO) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to world-class, patient-centred research in one of the UK's leading Academic Health Science Centres.
The JRO supports a large, internationally recognised portfolio of clinical and translational research-moving discoveries from bench to bedside to improve patient outcomes. As Research Data Manager, you will play a critical role in strengthening the Trust's research infrastructure by overseeing data management activities and developing business intelligence capabilities across the organisation.
You will lead the ongoing development, coordination, and quality assurance of research data systems such as PowerTrials and EDGE, working closely with clinical teams, research staff, and digital and operational partners to ensure robust, compliant, and high-quality data processes. A key part of the role involves working with the Trust's Business Intelligence and ICT teams to design and implement dashboards and data visualisation tools (e.g., using Qlik Sense), enabling real-time performance monitoring and strategic insight across our research portfolio.
Main duties of the job- Oversee research data processes across commercial and non-commercial studies
- Act as subject matter expert for PowerTrials and EDGE
- Lead the development of dashboards and reporting tools to enhance research performance tracking
- Collaborate with Business Intelligence to integrate research metrics into Trust-wide systems
- Provide training and guidance on data quality, governance, and systems use
- Line manage and support staff in the data management function

Person Specification Education/Qualifications- Masters or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Understanding of the clinical research process and the research landscape within the UK
- Degree in scientific subjects
- Experience working on unfamiliar topics requiring rapid assimilation of new technical knowledge
- Experience of leading and managing a team
- Experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures and essential documentation (e.g., user guidelines, reports, protocols)
- Experience providing training and workshops
- Proficiency in data analysis, including advanced Excel skills to manipulate datasets
- Proficient in operating database applications and extracting/manipulating exported data
- Ability to coordinate others to deliver outputs
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate high-level communication skills in complex situations
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training workshops and associated documentation
- High attention to detail and data integrity
