Research Assistant (Geoarchaeology)

Contract: 0.4 fte (Fixed term for 6 months)

We are looking for a person with a good Honours Degree in Geography, Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Forensic Science, Environmental Science or a similar subject, to work as a part time Research Assistant with Professor Hunt in a laboratory based project on the geoarchaeology of the Neanderthal "Flower Burials" at Shanidar Cave, Iraq.

Responsibilities

• Participate in day to day running of the research project.
• Perform sediment granulometry and geochemistry analyses.
• Record, enter, and interpret data.
• Communicate with Professor Hunt and the wider Shanidar Project team.
• Assist with production of internal reports and manuscripts for publication.

Qualifications

• Good Honours Degree in Geography, Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Forensic Science, Environmental Science or a similar subject.
• Enthusiastic and highly organised individual.
• Experience or training in sediment analysis techniques preferred.
