Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • MRCPI or equivalent, MBBS or equivalent
  • Current Irish Medical Council Registration Certificate
  • Valid ACLS certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a Healthcare environment in Ireland
  • Minimum of 1 year Cardiology Experience at Registrar level
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under general direction and control of the Head of HR, responsible for duties per hospital policy and in line with JCI accreditation requirements.
  • Provide patient care: history taking, physical examination, decision making, clinical and procedural skills, prescription of medications, completion of all patient records.
  • Assess, order and review investigations: radiology, laboratory, microbiology, pathology, haematology; document findings collaboratively with the appropriate consultant.
  • Provide pre and post procedure care for Cath lab patients: assist with procedures, coordinate consents, discharge plans, and summaries; ensure timely discharge.
  • Supervise SHO/Intern participating in all activities.
  • Coordinate all Cardiology admissions: direct acute and elective admissions; write comprehensive admission notes or review new patients; focus on salient history, physical findings, major problems, assessment, and plan.
  • Attend CCU handover and review each morning; evaluate patients and provide feedback to consultant; manage cardiology devices (telemetry).
  • Conduct independent work rounds: follow up labs, scans, critically ill patients, discharge plans in collaboration with cardiac rehab CNS and nurses; present new patients formally during rounds.
  • Attend and participate in weekly Cardiology MDT & case conference.
  • Respond to cardiac and medical emergencies.
  • Address adverse occurrences (blood guidelines, infection control).
  • Implement quality standards for consistent quality service.
  • Participate in hospital quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
  • Maintain liaison with staff, consultants, nursing, healthcare staff, administrative assistants, interns, SHO colleagues.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required including handling transfers to other institutions.
  • Comply with Health and Safety Regulations ensuring safe work practices.
