Main duties of the jobPosition type :Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Permanent
Band 4 : Salary £27,485 - £30,162 per annum
We are looking for a Registered Band 4 Dental Nurse to join us part time in our busy Maxillofacial Department. Assisting our Consultants and clinicians working across all specialities, which include Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial, Restorative and Orthodontics, on a rotational basis. Ideally the candidate would need to be an excellent team member and communicator, self motivated and caring.

Job responsibilities- Tomaintain high standards of patient care and adhere to hospital policy andprocedures. To participate in achievement of quantity standards and in qualitymonitoring, with particular emphasis on waiting times in clinics and oncustomer care in addition to high standards of clinical care.
- Toprepare surgeries, including preparation of instruments and equipment for allDental/Surgical procedures.
- Toliaise with and assist clinical, medical and dental staff in all procedures.
- Toattend peripheral clinics, providing nursing and radiography support whenappropriate.
- Toprovide oral health education to patients on treatment, oral hygiene, dietaryneeds and other health promotion areas as relevant and to provide information,advice and support regarding their treatment.
- Toensure medical equipment and instruments are checked, maintained and suitablefor their purposes, reporting any defect to the nurse manager and assisting inarrangement for repair and replacement.
- Tomake patient appointments when appropriate, inputting data into hospital anddepartmental information system, and obtaining necessary information from suchsystems.
- Toreport any complaints to the Clinical Nurse Manager, participating incomplaints investigation and completing report forms as necessary.
- Toassist in stock control, maintenance of adequate stock levels. Conduct stocktakes when required.
- Toparticipate in departmental Audits and collate information when required.
- Toassist in the training of new Dental Nurses and act as a mentor when required.
- Toattend departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Touse all relevant qualifications gained such as, tracing cephalometricradiographs, taking dental photos, assist in dental implants and the taking ofdental radiographs.
- Toparticipate in individual performance reviews.
- Toadhere to all health and safety policies and be aware of all policies andprocedures within the department/trust.
- Toundertake any other appropriate duties as maybe assigned by clinical nursemanager and/or Clinical Director.

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Dental Nurse with GDC
- Must have experience in all clinical aspects of Dental Nursing.
- Experience in Oral Surgery, advanced restorative dentistry and orthodontics.
- Hospital experience or previous experience of cancer patients is preferred but not essential.
