Regional Lead Pharmacist North East

This role is 60% Governance role and 40% clinical working at agreed sites in the North East and there will be a requirement to be onsite in the NE prisons.
Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding Pharmacist Management role and want to develop your leadership skills? We are looking for a pharmacist to join our medicines management team to cover maternity leave as a regional Lead Pharmacist in the North East.
About you: You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master's Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will have a real passion for Health and Justice pharmacy and working with others.
If you are self-motivated, able to work autonomously and have experience of service improvement as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!
Experience of working in Health and Justice services would be beneficial but not essential. Experience of line management, service improvement and leadership is essential. Please note you will be required to travel between our North East Prison Sites. HMP Northumberland, HMP Durham, HMPYOI Low Newton, HMP Frankland, HMP Holme House, HMP Kirklevington Grange and HMP Deerbolt. Your base will be the site closest to your home address.
Main duties of the job- Support the Chief Pharmacist with delivering safe, high quality, personcentred medicines optimisation work programmes and activities.
- Support the delivery of the medicines optimisation and safety strategy and provide clinical professional advice where required.
- Support development of staff across their region.
- Work with the PSIRF lead to deliver improvements in medicines and controlled drugs incidents across the sites.
- Support and deliver cost savings identified through CIP with pharmacists at sites
- Be responsible for provision of expert advice to senior managers, prescribers, patients and other key stakeholders on medication related issues.
- Support the Chief Pharmacist to utilise where appropriate national, international evidence relating to clinical governance and medicines optimisation.
- Provide clinical professional leadership and strategic direction across the region.
- Provide strategic support in relation to the developing roles of the pharmacy teams and their integration into the healthcare Multi- Disciplinary Team (MDT)
- Support the chief pharmacist as a senior leader to ensure systems and processes are in place to support ongoing registration with the CQC and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Produce reports for and attend the relevant committees within Spectrum and externally e.g. commissioner's meetings.
- Registered Pharmacist with GPhC
- Degree or MSC in Pharmacy
- Non medical prescribing and experience
- Undertaken training for clinical therapeutics to specialist level e.g., National Prescribing Centre therapeutic training or RCGP 2 Substance Misuse.
- Coaching and/or mentoring qualification or experience
- Experience in a pharmacist leadership role.
- Broad clinical and management experience relevant to the seniority of the post.
- Able to lead and demonstrate compassionate leadership
- Experience of team working in a complex system demonstrating improvements for clinical governance and meeting regulatory/ commissioned requirements
- Knowledge and experience of the quality assurance framework and Quality Improvement tools and techniques
- Awareness of finance and budgetary management.
- Presentation and report writing skills
- Exercise judgement involving complex facts or situations, which require analysis, interpretation, and comparison of a range of options
- Understanding of local and national policy in relation to medicines optimisation agenda
