Amazon Construction Health & Safety (H&S) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environment that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors across Amazon construction projects. This individual will play a critical role to ensure the implementation of high standards of safety and adherence across all construction projects in MEU (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia & Austria). Establishing H&S compliance across existing and new contractual agreements with our vendors. The successful candidate will support the delivery of the International H&S, reporting to the International Field Lead.
The role will require knowledge of local construction safety standards, regulations and behavioural safety habits and understanding of commercial client obligations. Emphasis on sound safety principles, basic construction knowledge and the ability to engage with cross functional teams, transforming this knowledge to develop Standard Operating Procedures, adapt existing safety standards to meet future requirements and enhance safety compliance processes, scaling to support MEU but Thinking Big to support the globally. This individual will be accountable for the region to meet safety targets; working through vendor MBRs, managing local Health and Safety Consultant network, increasing the adoption of BOLT (Digital Safety Management System) monitoring adherence of Safe Methods of work, compliance to BOLT inspections/audits, delivering high level of safety reporting transparency, whilst driving safety culture for the region. Utilizing BOLT, the MEU Safety Manager will analyse data to identify emerging trends, implementing mitigation strategies as required & working with construction teams to inform the of best practices and lessons learnt as applicable.
The individual will provide a functional working link to critical customers including: Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Start up, Launch, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, Real Estate and Workplace Health & Safety.

Key job responsibilities- Support construction and program managers (CM / PMs) to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with developers, general contractors and subcontractors in relation to construction H&S.
- Support GES CM / PMs in follow up & drive accountability related to incidents and near misses.
- Support GES CM / PMs and H&S SMEs with external H&S Consultant appointments.
- Conduct reactive and pre arranged site visits support, guide and advise the Project Team and/or participate in other site based activities.
- Provide timely assistance to the Project Teams to ensure compliance with local legislation and H&S standards, tools, process and procedure.
- Interrogate safety data metrics to establish trends, safety concerns to develop and implement resolution / mitigation and influence a safety culture.
- Prepare safety metrics analysis by Business Unit / Region and present Safety Weekly Business Reviews.
- Attend / support periodic safety business reviews, audits, and inspections to ensure H&S compliance. Evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Where applicable, attend and participate in virtual and face to face GES H&S Team meetings and periodic business reviews.
- Ensure a data oriented assistance approach throughout the overall project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the GES H&S Field Assurance Team to ensure the Amazon construction operations meets the country specific H&S requirements throughout MEU.
- Support internal GES H&S Team SMEs for continuous improvement.
- Support supply chain Technical Vendor Management and Global Procurement Organization with safety data analysis, safety business reviews and evaluation of new vendors in relation to H&S.
- Environmental Safety degree or equivalent Master certification
- International safety certification (NEBOSH)
- Demonstrated extensive experience in safety management within construction environments
- Bilingual proficiency in German and English
- Proven track record of managing remotely
- Strong understanding of international construction safety regulations
- Experience with digital safety management systems
- Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications
