Red Tractor Dairy, Beef & Lamb, and Crops Assessor, Shropshire (Independent Contractor)

SHROPSHIRE, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you an experienced farming or agricultural professional looking to carry out Red Tractor Dairy, Beef & Lamb, and Crops assessments on behalf of NSF as a self employed independent contractor?

NSF is a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services. Within our Agriculture team, we operate as a certification body for a range of plant and animal assurance schemes. Our assessors play a key role in auditing farms and verifying compliance with scheme owner standards.

We are looking for a Red Tractor Dairy, Beef & Lamb, and Crops Assessor to join our team of self-employed contractors in Shropshire.

If you have practical agricultural experience and an interest in farm assurance standards and food integrity, independent auditing can offer a flexible and rewarding way to use your practical experience and industry knowledge.

Independent Contracting - How it works:

You operate on a self employed basis, completing Red Tractor assessments on behalf of NSF.

You are paid per audit, with travel expenses covered, where applicable.

You share your availability, and visits are scheduled based on your location, experience, and scheme coverage.

Work is offered on an ad hoc basis and can vary throughout the year depending on programme needs.

Independent contracting offers autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to shape your own workload.

Responsibilities

Include, but not limited to:

  • Conducting on farm Red Tractor assessments across Dairy, Beef & Lamb, and Crops schemes.
  • Reviewing scheme requirements and completing audits in line with Red Tractor standards.
  • Summarising and evaluating audit findings and submitting reports within agreed timeframes.
  • Clearly communicating audit findings with farmers and client representatives.
  • Planning audit activity effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Maintaining effective communication with audit delivery and client teams.
Qualifications
  • Practical on farm experience, including stockperson or management responsibility for livestock health and welfare.
  • The ability to engage confidently, respectfully and patiently with the farming community.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage your own time.
  • Confidence in handling challenging conversations and managing conflict appropriately.
  • A flexible and professional approach, with respect for individual and company confidentiality.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to farm locations.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends where required.
