Start Date: September 2026

Salary: £90-£100 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Are you an experienced Reception Teaching Assistant with a passion for Early Years education? Do you have the patience, warmth and confidence to support young children in a nurturing classroom environment?

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet, Finchley is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join their outstanding Early Years team from September 2026. This is a full time temporary role, ideal for a personable and proactive assistant who enjoys supporting children's development during these crucial early years.

As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside an experienced class teacher in a Reception class, supporting whole class learning while providing targeted support to a bright child with Autism. The child is verbal but has a limited vocabulary and often communicates through gestures and body language. This is not a formal 1:1 role, but you will play an important part in helping him access learning whilst supporting the wider class.

Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning across the Reception classroom
  • Help deliver engaging EYFS activities and learning experiences
  • Provide targeted support for a child with Autism alongside whole class responsibilities
  • Encourage communication, social interaction and independence
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and Early Years team
  • Promote positive behaviour and a love of learning
Requirements
  • Previous EYFS or Early Years experience is essential
  • Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs is desirable
  • Calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to children's individual needs
  • A genuine passion for helping young children thrive
