Reception SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support

  • Location: Nuneaton
  • Weekly Pay: £500-£525
  • Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract: Long-Term to Permanent

Long Term Futures are recruiting a Reception SEN Teaching Assistant to join a modern and inclusive primary school in Nuneaton. This is a full-time 1:1 role supporting a Reception pupil with ASD, SEMH and communication needs.

You will provide consistent support throughout the school day, helping the pupil access learning, develop their communication and manage their emotions within the classroom. The role will require a patient and nurturing approach, with activities and routines adapted around the child's individual needs.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception pupil
  • Support needs including ASD, SEMH and communication difficulties
  • Support emotional regulation and help the pupil manage transitions and routines
  • Use visual prompts, structured routines and clear communication strategies
  • Adapt EYFS activities to enable the pupil to access learning
  • Support communication, social interaction and language development
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement
  • Provide sensory and regulation activities where appropriate
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
  • Monitor progress and maintain a consistent approach to support

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD, SEMH and/or communication needs
  • Experience working within EYFS, SEN or a primary school environment
  • Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support
  • Understanding of emotional regulation and supporting challenging situations calmly
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, Now & Next, visual timetables or sensory strategies would be beneficial
  • Patient, nurturing and consistent approach
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
