The Opportunity

A leading international Project Management Consultancy (PMC) is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join the delivery team for one of Europe's most significant transport infrastructure programmes, MetroLink Dublin.

Acting on behalf of the client, you will provide technical oversight and engineering assurance during the design development and construction phases of the project. This is a key role supporting the successful delivery of major civil infrastructure works, ensuring that contractor proposals, methodologies, schedules and technical solutions meet the project's safety, quality and performance requirements.

While not a formal Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) position, the role requires a similar mindset-providing independent technical challenge, professional judgement and recommendations to the client team throughout project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Review and assess contractor designs, engineering proposals and technical submissions.
  • Provide recommendations on construction methodologies, sequencing and buildability.
  • Evaluate contractor programmes and schedules, identifying risks, opportunities and potential impacts to project delivery.
  • Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project requirements, standards and specifications.
  • Support the client in technical decision-making and engineering governance processes.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews and technical workshops.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Review method statements, temporary works proposals and construction planning documentation.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including track, systems, structures, geotechnical and architectural disciplines.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations and progress assessments for senior stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 9-10 years' experience on major rail, metro or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction supervision, engineering assurance, client representative, technical advisor or consultant engineer roles.
  • Strong understanding of railway civil infrastructure including stations, structures, earthworks, bridges, tunnels or related assets.
  • Experience reviewing contractor designs, programmes and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to provide independent technical recommendations and challenge where appropriate.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Highly Desirable
  • Previous experience working on Irish rail infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) standards, Common Safety Method (CSM) processes, CRR requirements, or similar railway assurance frameworks.
  • Experience on major rail programmes such as Metro, Light Rail, Heavy Rail or High-Speed Rail projects.
  • Background working for a PMC, Engineer, Client Organisation or Construction Supervision Consultant.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
What We Offer
  • Opportunity to work on one of Ireland's flagship transport projects.
  • Exposure to complex multidisciplinary rail engineering challenges.
  • Collaborative international project environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
