Job Description
Radiology Reception Appointments Administrator

We are looking for a full time Reception Appointments Administrator to work within the Radiology team at Furness General Hospital, booking patient appointments for Radiology examinations and receiving our patients into the department on reception and also in the new CDC centre.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to have experience in clerical work and dealing with the public, good communication and organisation skills, and preferably a working knowledge of healthcare IT systems.

Working hours

The hours will be worked during the week, Monday to Friday with Bank Holidays and weekends on rotation.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal - as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI provide a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. A range of local outreach services and diagnostics are also provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are delivered in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Person Specification Skills
  • Highly developed communication skills with sensitivity to the needs of patients, particularly where there may be barriers to understanding e.g., learning difficulties, deafness, language
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teams / individuals within and outside of the trust
  • Work with limited supervision
Experience
  • Previous experience of making appointments and reception duties
  • Experience of dealing with the public
  • Evidence of computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience of NHS information systems
Education and Qualifications
  • ECDL or equivalence or RSA Level 2/3
