About the School

The Raise Academy is a brand-new school opening in September 2024. The school will specialise in supporting pupils aged 12-16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, primarily from the Halton and St Helens areas. The school will provide a calm, safe and welcoming environment for pupils that might have struggled to succeed in traditional educational settings.

The Raise Academy pupils will have the opportunity to be engaged in a wide range of vocational and practical subjects that will give them new opportunities to progress personally, socially and academically. The curriculum will be underpinned by high quality and supportive Maths, English and Science and all lessons will be taught in small classes of up to 8 pupils, with teachers, learning mentors and pastoral/teaching assistants.

Job Description

Reports to: Office Manager

Purpose of the Role: To help provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective reception and administrative support service for the school, working alongside the Office Manager in the main school office.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as a main point of contact for visitors, staff, pupils, parents, carers, outside agencies and other stakeholders. Provide advice, information, and assistance where possible either over email, telephone or face to face. Provide hospitality for visitors as necessary and implement school safeguarding policy.
  • Provide administrative support to the Headteacher and staff as directed by the Headteacher and/or Office Manager. This will include maintenance of records, written and electronic, origination of letters, photocopying, scanning, emails and phone calls.
  • Help to arrange for supply cover in the event of staff absence.
  • Administer school registration procedures in line with statutory requirements and school policies.
  • Order school lunches, collate school lunch data and adapt the school lunch menu.
  • Help administer pupil enrolment and leaver procedures, update and maintain pupil and staff databases on the school MIS, maintain lists and registers ensuring records are accurate and up to date, and produce reports, lists, information and data as required.
  • Update school spreadsheets and student data.
  • Complete statutory census returns along with other weekly and monthly returns such as staff variation sheets, sickness absence and insurance returns.
  • Assist in the routine administrative arrangements in relation to the recruitment and interviewing of applicants.
  • Support the Office Manager in maintaining and monitoring staff information, including absences and staff training.
  • Help arrange and manage pupil transport requirements and liaise with external agencies.
  • Keep updated school prospectuses, home/school agreements, school website, displays and other marketing material.
  • Ensure security procedures are followed when people enter and exit the school in line with safeguarding requirements.
  • Attend training as necessary which could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.
  • Support with finance processes such as lunch money, credit card reconciliation, booking trips and general purchases.
  • Undertake such other duties related to the work of the school appropriate to the post as may be assigned by the Officer Manager/Headteacher.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
