A leading London-based actuarial analytics and consulting organisation is seeking a highly academic and technically strong R&D Engineer to join its specialist innovation team.
This is a highly project-focused role working across multiple actuarial and consulting teams, researching and developing new analytical models, algorithms, and technical solutions to solve complex real-world business problems.
You will operate as an internal technical specialist, applying advanced mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques to design innovative analytics capabilities and production-grade tools.
No prior insurance experience is required.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver applied research and technical innovation projects

Translate complex business and actuarial problems into technical solutions

Design and develop analytical models, algorithms, and data pipelines
-
Build tools and prototypes using Python and modern data science techniques
-
Work closely with actuarial, consulting, and engineering teams

Contribute to development of new intellectual property and analytics capabilities
-
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies including AI and machine learning
This role offers significant variety, working across multiple projects and problem domains.
Required Skills & Experience

Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or similar)

Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar

Excellent mathematical modelling and analytical skills

Experience working with large or complex datasets

Ability to solve complex technical problems

Strong communication skills
Desirable Experience
