Job Description
Quantum Computational Science Specialist 
Derby (Hybrid) - Lead Quantum Computing activities covering quantum algorithms, fault tolerant processors, hybrid workflows and high performance classical simulation for Quantum Linear Equation Solvers, state and matrix loading, block encoding, measurement observables, and state reconstruction with machine learning.
What you will be doing- Develop and validate algorithms and codes for quantum processors, focusing on error corrected methods.
- Collaborate with quantum computing companies, universities and government labs to advance research programmes.
- Implement hybrid classical quantum algorithms and run them on high performance computers for large test cases.
- Influence Rolls Royce engineering to adopt quantum methods and support their commercialization.
- Engage with a broad stakeholder community, both internal and external.
- Participate in technology horizon scanning and assess emerging computational technologies.
- Essential
- Degree in Physics, Mathematics or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of quantum information and experience in computational science.
- Experience implementing quantum algorithms using environments such as PennyLane, QuEST, or similar.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Excellent communication and consultancy skills, able to engage with domain experts and non quantum specialists.
- Experience with fault tolerant quantum solver techniques such as Quantum Singular Value Transformation.
- Desirable
- Parallel programming for high performance computing.
- Simulation, modelling, machine learning for engineering.
- Knowledge of state loading, matrix encoding, amplitude amplification and measurement operators.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, cloud computing architecture and HPC system management.
- Classical data science and machine learning experience.
