Overview

Quantity Surveyor is needed to join a Quantity Surveying practice in Reading. A successful Quantity Surveyor candidate will be part of a supportive, ambitious, growing and energetic team. The employer is seeking a Quantity Surveyor from a PQS background who has aspirations to become Chartered with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in the near future. This employer has a strong track record of promoting from within and a robust APC training programme.

Your employer will be an established and expanding Chartered Quantity Surveying & Project Management consultancy that works on a range of projects for multiple public and private sector clients across various sectors. Most projects are long-term client work, either negotiated or won as part of a services framework. You will be based in the Leicester office. The successful candidate will be willing to travel to sites across the UK as required, so a driving licence is required.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Take the lead on a range of construction projects and supervise the work of the assistants and apprentices in your team, helping them fulfil their potential.
  • Act as the principal point of contact with the project client and the other consultants on the design team.
  • Work independently and take responsibility for the successful delivery of QS / PM / EA services on all projects you and your team are working on.
  • Actively look to take on additional responsibility and be able to stand in for the Associate or Senior QS when they are unavailable.
  • Act as a Quantity Surveyor on traditional projects or Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects.
  • Follow the company Quality Management System in the delivery of all services.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and develop effective time management strategies.
  • Provide clients with an exceptional level of service.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in running own projects quantity surveying and/or project management for either a Private Practice, Construction Company or related organisation.
  • Proficiency in measurement, ideally using CostX Measurement Software.
  • Experience in running projects independently.
  • Strategically minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Driving licence and own car. Willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or a related field.
  • Working towards MRICS, or a commitment to achieve Chartered status within 3 years of starting at this company.
