Quantity Surveyor - Civils

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work within and assist the commercial and construction team to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining relationships to maximize commercial returns and manage risk.

Responsibilities- Implement commercial strategy
- Support the SQS & MQS commercial functions, assisting with and taking responsibility for:
- Preparing tenders, analyzing, selecting appropriate subcontractors, negotiation, and finalizing subcontractor orders, as well as financial and commercial management to Final Account completion.
- Site records and document control
- Site measurement records
- Assisting in the preparation of forecasts, targets, and CVRs
- Valuations
- Prepare variations with adequate records and details, and agree as works progress
- Update projected Final Account, prepare, and submit in a timely manner
- Liaise with and influence site management team commercially
- Maintain and protect JSS commercial and contractual entitlement
- Be actively involved in CVR process and maintain an independent view
- Review and consider risks and opportunities
- Develop understanding of insurances and warranties
- Ensure good cash management and be actively involved
- Support tender process as required
- Manage and oversee AQS & TQS, checking and taking responsibility for their work
- Maintain site records and control documents
- Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills
- Effectively utilize a range of technology platforms
- Be fully conversant with the Standard Method of Measurement
- Demonstrate ownership and commercial awareness
- Effective time management, organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Educated to degree level and working toward relevant professional accreditation
- JCT qualification
- Proficient in letter and report writing
- Negotiation skills
- Experience with CVRs
- 2-day Safety awareness training
- Understanding of contract and commercial principles
- CIOB membership or qualification
