Introduction for Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector

TCS Consulting is supporting an established precision engineering business in the search for an experienced Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector to join their team in Ushaw Moor, Durham.

This is a hands-on inspection role focused on machine turned parts, dimensional inspection, CMM programming and quality documentation. The role would suit someone from a subcontract machining or precision engineering background with experience preparing FAIR and ISIR documentation.

Responsibilities for Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector

As Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting machined components, reviewing technical documentation and ensuring inspection records are completed accurately. You will work closely with production and quality teams to identify non-conformances, support root cause investigations and maintain high standards across inspection activity.

  • Prepare and review FAIR and ISIR documentation in line with customer requirements
  • Program and operate CMM equipment to complete dimensional inspections
  • Carry out manual inspection using micrometers, calipers, gauges and other precision tools
  • Interpret engineering drawings, material specifications and technical documentation
  • Record in-process inspection results, observations and any identified discrepancies
  • Liaise with production and quality teams to investigate issues and support corrective actions
Requirements for Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing, machining or precision engineering environment. Experience inspecting machine turned parts is essential, along with the ability to program and operate CMM equipment and prepare FAIR or ISIR documentation.

  • Previous quality inspection experience within manufacturing or engineering
  • Experience inspecting machine turned parts is essential
  • Experience programming and operating CMM equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and material specifications
  • Experience preparing FAIR and ISIR documentation
  • Skilled in the use of micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 standards
  • High attention to detail with good communication skills
