Job Description
Job Summary

Responsible for carrying out QA Engineer duties for 1 or more product lines and operating the Calibration Process in conjunction with Calibration provider.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Management and daily disposition of quarantined materials.
  • Performing transactions to maintain system accuracy.
  • Analysis of failure data and maintenance of material records.
  • Producing management reports and metrics for failed materials.
  • Driving issues to root cause(s), corrective action and monitor for effectiveness.
  • Supporting diagnosis and repair of complex electro/mechanical equipment.
  • Management of the outsourced Calibration Process and of the provider.
  • Co working with the Purchasing team to develop local suppliers.
  • Supporting and assisting with internal and supplier audits.
  • Design and review of Quality Assurance related documentation.
  • Interpretation of safety, quality and regulatory standards.
  • Identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collation and analysis of field failure data.
  • Interfacing with Research, Design and Development teams for product improvement.
Education & Experience
  • Technical / Advanced Degree level of education or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in providing manufacturing support, ideally in photonics industry.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of modern quality and manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO13485.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma and the Quality Tools.
  • Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
  • Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and strong analytical ability.
  • Creative and innovative approach in problem solving.
  • Proven ability to follow procedures and complete assigned tasks to deadline.
  • Initiative to recognise and manage occasional deviations from accepted practice.
  • Able to work as part of a team but also self starter with ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Knowledge of laser technology.

Working Conditions

Working conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Scotland EHS standards.
