About the Organisation

In June 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care introduced two key frameworks: the Population Health Framework and the Service Renewal Framework (SRF). The SRF sets out an ambitious vision to drive innovation and enable more integrated delivery across Scotland's health and care services. As part of this transformation, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) will come together to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland in April 2026. The new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and long term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland. The Post

As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the QA team supporting activities under the organisation's Blood Establishment License at the Jack Copland Centre in Edinburgh. This is a leadership role that requires a hands on approach combined with the ability to work strategically. Communication across all levels of the organization is key to success in this role. There is an opportunity for hybrid working with the expectation of flexibility to support the organisational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Quality oversight with respect to plasma products procured and distributed under the MHRA WDA (H) license held by the organisation.
  • Lead the Quality team responsible for assuring compliance of production blood components, providing quality oversight and guidance on suppliers, testing, production, distribution, validation, recall and all other routine QMS activities, including hosting MHRA inspections.
  • Act as Deputy Responsible Person under the MHRA BEA license.
  • Undertake a key role in continuous improvement across the organisation.
Candidate Requirements
  • Educated to degree level in a scientific or other relevant subject and hold a post graduate qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Current HCPC registration at the time of applying.
  • Must undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check.
  • Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern

Jack Copland Centre, Edinburgh.

Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.

Currently there is no routine requirement for "out of hours" or shift working for this post. However the flexibility to support out of hours unexpected events is required from time to time.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PSDS.
