For 81 years, we've achieved success through our ability to innovate, placing a clear emphasis on how we best serve our customers' needs. As demand continues to grow, we have expanded rapidly, now delivering a superior range of dry goods, frozen and chilled products, fresh seafood and meat, confectionery, paper products, and cleaning solutions.

In recent years, we've seen significant growth and invested in our systems and processes, building a close partnership with Woolworths Group that has continued to deliver high-quality service for our customers and suppliers.

About this Position

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Quality and Technical Officer to join our national Quality team. In this role, you'll support the Approved Supplier Program and ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards across a broad and diverse supplier base.

Reporting into a supportive and empathetic leader, you'll work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to manage product specifications, maintain accurate records, and assist with audits, product recalls, and certifications. It's a fast-paced environment with high volume and constant variety, ideal for someone who thrives on structure, problem-solving, and collaboration.

This is a great opportunity for a recent Food Science graduate or an experienced professional looking to step into a national role with real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review supplier certifications, questionnaires, and product specifications.
  • Coordinate supplier approvals, and ensure all documentation is audit-ready.
  • Manage and maintain the National Product Recall Register, including product recalls, withdrawals, and isolations.
  • Liaise with branches and suppliers to clarify documentation or product spec queries.
  • Support HACCP compliance and FSANZ regulatory requirements.
  • Help clean up outdated supplier/product data and improve system discipline.
  • Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with your immediate team and build strong cross-functional relationships.

What We're Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Food Science (or equivalent experience in a quality/technical role).
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to take initiative and follow through.
  • Confidence managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • A collaborative mindset, someone who enjoys working as part of a team and jumping in to help when needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

If you don't hold a Food Science degree, 3-5 years' experience in a similar quality/compliance role in a supplier-facing organisation is essential.

We are offering competitive remuneration, superannuation and other staff benefits (such as discounts on staff purchases, discounted accommodation, health insurance and banking).
