QA Engineer/Architect

Position: QA Engineer/Architect
Location: Nenagh/Dublin, Ireland (Onsite)
Duration: Long Term B2B Contract

Job Description:
Experience as a test engineer, QA engineer, or SDET - you have designed teststrategies and written test code, not just executed test plans
Ability to write test automation code - this is a hands-on coding role
Strong analytical skills - you can read a specification, a data model, or an event schema and identify the cases that will cause problems
Experience working within agile delivery teams - particularly contributing to refinement, challenging requirements, and shaping what gets built
Pragmatic approach to quality - you optimise for confidence, not coverage numbers
Experience with CI/CD integration - your tests run in the pipeline, not as a separate activity
Familiarity with event-driven architectures and the testing challenges they introduce - ordering, idempotency, eventual consistency
Comfortable working with Kafka - publishing test events, consuming and asserting on outputs, debugging message flows
Strong SQL skills - you will write comparison queries across systems, verify financial calculations, and spot data discrepancies
Comfortable with Docker and containerised test environments
Experience with modern test tooling such as Testcontainers, JUnit, REST Assured, or equivalent

Desirable
Experience in financial services, payments, or acquiring
Experience with migration or platform replacement validation - comparing outputs between Legacy and new systems
Experience with performance or load testing/
