Python Engineer - Automation 6 months, Outside IR35, £525 per day.
Hybrid working. Edinburgh or Glasgow based.
Parity Group are delighted to partner with our client, a prestigious public sector organisation, who are looking to recruit a Python Engineer on an initial 6-month contractual basis. Hybrid working, you will be required to attend client offices in either Glasgow or Edinburgh on a weekly basis.
Our client is looking for an experienced Python Engineer to join their Land Registration Automation team. You'll work at the forefront of AI/ML, OCR, and Large Language Models (LLMs) to deliver automation that transforms how our client's land register is managed.
This is a chance to apply your technical expertise to real-world, high-impact problem, from document analysis and automation of casework, to scaling AI-powered services for production use.
What You'll Do
- Develop and enhance our automation services using OCR, Object Detection, and LLMs.
- Build and maintain Python-based AI/ML components for large-scale document processing.
- Research, prototype, and productionise new automation opportunities.
- Ensure high-quality, secure, and sustainable code through testing and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, domain experts, and stakeholders in an agile delivery team.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and ongoing operational support.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in AI/ML solutions: OCR, Object Detection, and LLMs.
- Hands-on with Python 3.9+, plus libraries such as Transformers (Hugging Face), PyTorch, OpenCV, Pillow, YOLO.
- Strong background in data processing (Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy/psycopg2).
- AWS cloud skills, including Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, CDK, SQS, and containerised AI deployments (EKS/ECS/Kubernetes).
- Building and deploying APIs with FastAPI.
- Agile practices: TDD, pair programming, CI/CD, and monitoring (Grafana/CloudWatch).
Desirable Skills
- Advanced ML/AI model deployment experience.
- Expertise in scaling document automation and computer vision systems.
