Your New Role
We're seeking a technically strong Python Developer with SC Clearance to join a high-performing team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hybrid role, with 1 day per week on-site in London. You'll work across three agile teams, collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues to optimise and maintain web applications across internal platforms. The focus is shifting away from Ruby and towards modern Front End development, with a strong emphasis on design systems and CMS platforms like Wagtail.

What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone with a government background and a proven track record in Front End development, particularly using Python and Wagtail. You should be comfortable working with GOV.UK Design System and ideally have experience with other CMS platforms. This role is more technical than communicative- we're looking for someone who thrives in code, not presentation

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test software components using proven engineering practices
• Work to agreed security standards and specifications
• Use tools to design, create, test, and document new or refactored code
• Contribute to Front End systems and design systems integration

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience with Python, especially Django and Django REST Framework
• Solid Front End development skills with JavaScript, React, and Node.js
• Experience with Wagtail and other CMS platforms
• Familiarity with GOV.UK Design System and Front End design systems
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and writing efficient SQL queries
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automated testing
• Strong technical problem-solving skills
• SC Clearance (or willingness to undergo clearance)
