Purchasing Manager

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Monday - Friday. 37.5 hour working week. Monday - Thursday, 8:30am - 5pm and Friday, 8:30am - 3:45pm (45 minute lunch break).

Holiday entitlement: 32 days (including 8 Bank Holidays)

Other benefits such as company bonus scheme and death in service

Kettering area. Office based.

Our client is looking to recruit a "confident, but not overbearing" proven Purchasing Manager that is not afraid to support the team "hands on" when needed. You'll manage their established team of 3 colleagues. This is pivotal team that work alongside most other departments within their HO.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will manage a complex evolving internal and external supply chain, developing the Purchasing team to lead a Demand Driven MRP culture whilst mitigating supply chain risk and driving down supply chain costs with overall responsibility for the Company's procurement capability.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Ownership and management of the internal and external supply chains including on-time availability of parts to line, inventory reconciliation, and cost reduction through negotiation. In doing so the Purchasing Manager and their team are directly attributing to the success of the build plan and achievement of our client's financial targets.
  • Managing and developing a highly performing Purchasing Team, with clearly defined objectives and instructions, ensuring the Purchasing capability is aligned to the Company's requirements.
  • The Purchasing Manager will work with the Strategic Purchaser to challenge current costs bases and introduce targeted savings by establishing UK Suppliers and/ or dual sourcing.
  • Working alongside other departments, you will establish a comprehensive stock holding of required parts, inclusive of lead times, minimum order quantities, and stock levels, based on historic usage data and "product entry into market" levels.
  • The Purchasing Manager will drive MRP throughout the organisation and, working with the Operations team, will implement key metrics to demonstrate improvements in part availability for the build line.

To be considered for this role, our client has specified they will only shortlist candidates that have been previous Purchasing Managers or at similar level. Previous management experience within this field is essential to be considered.
