Public Protection Officer - Food Health & Safety
North East London
Hybrid role
Up to £390 per day (DoE)
Inside IR35 (via umbrella company)
3 Month Initial Contract

Are you passionate about public health and safety? Do you have the expertise to uphold food hygiene and workplace standards?

As a Public Protection Officer, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining food hygiene and safety standards. You will work within the Public Protection Service, contributing to its high-quality, customer-focused enforcement program. This role offers a varied caseload, including monitoring visits-sometimes outside regular hours.

Your Role as a Public Protection Officer:-
  • Inspecting food establishments and enforcing regulations
  • Investigating complaints related to food, health, and safety
  • Assisting in accident investigations and infectious disease control
  • Providing expert input on licensing, planning applications, and event consultations
  • Taking enforcement action, including serving notices and leading prosecutions
  • Completing compliance, enforcement, and project work within the Public Protection Service
  • Supporting robust project management to ensure service efficiency
Your Previous Experience as a Public Protection Officer:-
  • Strong technical knowledge and communication skills
  • Experience inspecting high-risk food businesses under the Food Law Code of Practice
  • Competency in health and safety enforcement under relevant regulations
  • A flexible approach to work and a willingness to support colleagues
  • Proficiency in MS Office and case management systems
  • A recognised qualification under the Food Law Code of Practice
  • The ability to work within defined areas of Public Protection as assigned by your Line Manager
  • Commitment to continuous service improvement, supporting management to create positive outcomes
