The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Locum Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry to support a mental health service in London.

This opportunity offers a full-time locum contract with a Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00 structure, providing consistent and structured work within a well-established General Adult Psychiatry service. It is ideally suited to experienced doctors who are confident managing a varied caseload, assessing complex mental health presentations, and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care, contributing to service provision and ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate treatment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Manage patients with a wide range of mental health conditions within a General Adult Psychiatry setting
• Conduct ward reviews, patient assessments, and risk evaluations
• Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing staff, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and the wider MDT
• Participate in care planning, CPA reviews, and discharge planning processes
• Support Mental Health Act work and prepare clinical reports where required
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Escalate complex cases appropriately and contribute to safe clinical decision-makingSupport service delivery while maintaining high standards of patient care

What We're Looking For

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Significant UK experience within General Adult Psychiatry
• Previous NHS experience at Specialty Doctor level or equivalent
• Experience managing patients with complex mental health needs
• Section 12 approval desirable
• Strong clinical judgement, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to delivering patient-centred care
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
