What to Expect in the Role:

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the successful delivery of Local Government Reorganisation, by working closely with the Implementation Lead for Stratford on Avon District Council, coordinating key workstreams, and collaborating effectively with both internal teams and external partners to ensure a smooth and impactful transition.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details):
  • Lead on key project management activities to support the delivery of Local Government Reorganisation, working closely with the Implementation Lead.
  • Develop project plans, business cases, and proposals, ensuring the smooth delivery of assigned tasks.
  • Oversee project governance, including budget management, reporting to the Projects Delivery Board and Cabinet, and meeting external funding requirements.
  • Manage external consultants, monitor progress, mitigate risks and issues, and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Collaborate with Council support functions-such as HR, Finance, IT, Governance, Assets, and Procurement-to ensure coordinated, effective project delivery

  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects, supported by a relevant degree or substantial practical experience.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and budget management skills, with the capability to plan actions, realise benefits, and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Effective communicator with excellent ICT skills, experienced in producing and presenting clear reports and data insights to varied audiences.
  • Confident, politically aware, and able to challenge constructively, bringing an inclusive, proactive, and committed approach to achieving outcomes.
  • Familiarity with public sector environments, experienced in project briefs, financial propriety, and able to perform under pressure-including occasional out of hours work
