About this opportunity

The Fleet Services Team plays an essential role in ensuring the safe and legal operation of the Council's fleet and workforce. This supports the Council in fulfilling its legal and moral obligations regarding statutory services.

The team manages a diverse fleet including waste and recycling vehicles, street scene vehicles, pool cars, gritters, tipper trucks, coaches, minibuses, library vans, and fire appliances. It maintains over 1,000 items of plant, such as trailers, mowers, and power tools. The team also provides fleet management services like procurement of fuel, fuel cards, vehicle telematics, administration of pool cars, vehicle insurance, taxing, and support for procurement exercises. Additionally, it ensures fleet compliance and driver training to meet relevant legislation and guidance.

We aim to recruit two Project Officers for Fleet Services. These roles involve supporting the wider Fleet Services team by delivering projects that impact major service areas within the council.
